Default Women's World Cup

Anyone watched any of this? Just watched the England game. Was almost as boring as the men's game on Sunday.

I switched over when both commentators started talking about their hair.

I watched these highlights this morning http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33105589

The media seem to be trying really hard to build interest in the women's world cup "have you ever seen a more exciting match?" It's only exciting because the defending/keeping is so shite that loads of goals are let in. The disparity between the larger and smaller nations is also far greater than the men's game. Only a few countries at the top with proper pro leagues are worth watching.

Decent win by England to get out of the group. Standard is frustrating to watch though. A lot of long balls and missed passes. The goalkeeping is the weakest area though.

The keepers are pretty appalling, which is a shame!

Yeah, pretty shocking really. Seen a few games where the refs have been pretty poor too. I remember watching a few games last year, and there was more than one occasion where a team was taking a free kick and the ref let them take it before anyone was ready, so they just ended up with a 30 yard drifter rolling across the line

TBF large goal, smaller person in front of it. It should be easier to score...

This is true - but they can't be blamed for something they clearly can't reach. It's the actual ones they can, handling of the ball etc decision making that is reckless.

I've noticed the corners are always a mess. I think teams are exploiting the poor goalkeeping, knowing the keepers are unlikely to claim the ball. It ends up everyone crowded in the 6 yard box, and the corners in-swinging.

In mens football, the GK is always one of the tallest players. Making it easier for him to do certain things.
In womens football, it seems to be reversed!
